Solving Your Most Common Fashion Mistakes

Don't be a fashion victim! Instead, learn how to conquer three of the most common fashion mistakes with these easy fixes.

Gapping Blouse
If your shirt has taken a turn on the snug side, don't force the blouse to button -- you'll only give everyone a free peep at the goods underneath. Try these easy solutions: Pair it with a ruffled camisole and polish it off with a skinny belt, or apply Velcro to the inner seams to seal off the gap.

Hodgepodge Style
Rather than collecting a variety of mismatched items when shopping on a budget, invest in classic fashion staples that will create the foundation for a well-polished look.

  • Classics that never go out of style include:
  • The famous LBD (little black dress)
  • Slimming knee-length A-line skirt
  • Tunic-length cashmere jumper
  • White button-down shirt
  • String of pearls
  • Black pumps

Clashing Patterns
To mix patterns without looking like fashion overkill, follow these simple rules:

  • Avoid mixing big prints together. Instead, pair more dominant prints with small prints.
  • Use the bolder pattern on the top. Make sure the bolder pattern is in your jumper or blouse (rather than pants or skirt), and repeat the main colour in both the top and bottom.
  • Add a solid belt or blazer. Either one will create some separation between your patterns and help to complete your look.
